Balaton Museum, Keszthely

If you think Lake Balaton is the coolest place on earth, don't miss the museum about it! The Balaton Museum presents the formation and history of Lake Balaton, as well as tourism related to the lake and its development. The wonderful thing about the "Hungarian Sea" is that as many of us as there are, everyone loves it for different reasons. Perhaps most people visit it in the summer season for swimming and boating, but there are those who visit all year round for fishing or just to enjoy the beauty of the lake.

The permanent exhibitions include the János Halápy Memorial Exhibition, the painter bequeathed his paintings on the Balaton to the museum. Recently, the Festetics escape room was also established in the building. But there are also many interesting facts about the relationship between Lake Balaton and sport, castles and man. Have you heard the legend about the giant called Balaton? They'll tell you about it in the museum!
